Message from Hungry Minds Executive Director/Principal on recent developments regarding COVID-19

March 13, 2020

Dear Hungry Minds Friends,

My warmest greetings to all!

In light of the current community quarantine in Metro Manila due to COVID-19 and as directed by MalacaƱang, we have closed down our school in Pasay for the meantime. We have also chosen to do the same in our school in Malolos, Bulacan until class suspensions will be lifted by April 12, 2020. These are measures to lessen the exposure of our learners and educators to the virus as well as to contribute to efforts in delaying or limiting the spread of the disease. We are thankful that currently there are no cases of COVID-19 in our communities in Manila, Pasay, and even in Malolos, Bulacan.

Within our school community, we have been constantly communicating in order to have a proper response to the current situation. We are currently on a skeletal workforce and most of us are working from home. Our educators have shown such strong commitment to continue to serve the Hungry Minds community at this time. I am grateful for each one of them.

Allow me to send prayers and wishes of a speedy recovery to all those who are sick during this time. My sincere condolences also go out to those who are grieving because they lost family and friends because of what is happening. I also pray for the entire Hungry Minds community – families, children, scholars, educators, benefactors, partners and friends – that everyone may stay healthy and strong while facing our current challenges.

Amidst these turbulent times, I relay my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our frontliners in the medical field and in government for holding the fort and caring for others even while risking their own well-being. You are our heroes. May God continue to keep you safe and protect you from harm.

On our part, the campuses have been disinfected and thoroughly cleaned with the help of our educators and parents. We eagerly await the day when we can all be back in school and, once again, enjoy learning with each other. May this situation bring out the best in all of us. God bless everyone. Kaya natin ito.

Sincerely yours,
Teacher Candy
