Food for Hungry Minds is a Department of Education (DepEd) Recognized School and is an accredited non-government organization (NGO) of the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC). It aims to provide children from poor communities with high-quality bilingual education in middle elementary levels.
Primary Beneficiaries
Our primary beneficiaries are children from poor families in depressed communities of Paco, Pandacan, San Andres, Sta. Ana, and Leveriza in Manila and the resettlement area of Bangkal in Malolos, Bulacan.
Scholarship Provision
Scholarship provisions include meals (breakfast and lunch), books, school supplies, uniforms, transportation to and from their communities to the school, and support activities like tutorial sessions. Hungry Minds also built schools where children have their own classrooms, library and computer facilities to give children the full experience of going to school.
Application to Hungry Minds Program
Applicants for scholarship go through testing, trial classes, home visits, and medical exams before they are admitted. Hungry Minds only takes in 30 students per class per year with only one child per family admitted to the program.
