Hungry Minds Champion

"The first time I attended a Hungry Minds graduation was in 2008. I don't remember the name of the student who gave the speech that night but I do remember the sincere gratitude she expressed for her teachers and for her education. She shared about her first day at school and the meal that meant so much to her. While this student cried her eyes out on stage, because of appreciation, I found myself teary eyed as well and my heart swelled with pride for her and for her classmates and for her teachers who, no doubt, worked so hard to get them where they were.

I made a quiet decision in my heart that night to support Hungry Minds School.

From then on, the support that I thought about at that time was financial, but I found myself supporting in a different way more by spreading the word about the impact that this school makes. Teacher Candy was a very good friend of mine, has shared many Hungry Minds stories with me over the years and these stories have touched my heart. They are stories of struggle and pain and perseverance and success and these stories I try to share with my family and friends and even my own students and when I see them responding by supporting Hungry Minds as well it brings me so much joy.

So I want to thank everyone in Hungry Minds who is involved in this very important work of nation building through education you are making such a big impact on our country and you've allowed us to take part in the journey to take part in this world so thank you very much. I don't know if you realize it Hungry Minds but you are the real blessings in this partnership because you inspire us to do more good in this world. "
