While There Is Life There Is Hope

By Roseanne V. Guinto
Translated by Teachers Rea and Candy

Ever since my childhood I suffered hardships
Longing for the love of a father like you.
Sometimes I keep thinking of how life would be
When there is no one to care for me,
Like a leaf that blows with the wind and the stream of life.

Even if I have a mother I see her grief
Though there's a smile on her face, I know there is sorrow
We are divided yet are determined to be one
I am uncertain of what to do if they too were lost.

No matter the difficulties that lie ahead
No matter the afflictions I have to bear
All hardship could be faced
If we helped one another
If our family united.

Because of one person, there is color in my life
And then I thought, "How can I lend a helping hand
to my family if I too am in agony?"
All difficulties will be faced because we believe that
As long as there is life there is hope.
